Windows 10: Having problem with external storage device having weird effects on my pc and not working...

So I'm have problem's with my Toshiba SSD, before it used to work fine now when I open file explorer just stops responding, my background goes black, and my task bar disappears for a bit then it comes back and if i unplug the SSD everything will return to normal now that iv factory reset my pc now file explorer the bar at the top takes a super long time to load and eventually it will play the disconnect sound and then reconnect and i will get the message saying that the device has malfunction and if i have file explorer open before i plug it in it will show up as local disk drive and not its

Update Assistant does not detect External Storage Device

I am currently facing an issue with the update assistant. The problem comes from the prompt as seen from this webpage

The issue is in "Step 2: Connect an external storage device". It says to
"Connect your external storage device and wait until you see it in the drop-down list" but the external storage device already connected to my device (and shows up on My PC) is not shown on the drop down list. Can you help?

• Have you tried connecting your external device storage to different PC to make sure that it's not defective?

• Have you tried connecting a different external storage device to your PC to check if you're still experiencing the same issue?

• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
