  1. Having sound driver issues!

Hi! Just need help with a little problem that has occurred twice now!

So, what happens is, out of the blue, all sound on my computer (even system sounds) becomes very slowed down, choppy and glitchy. The first time it happened a few days ago, I restarted the computer, it installed updates, and the problem has not happened again until just now.
I believe it may be a driver issue because I needed to reinstall the sound drivers when I first booted the computer because it wasn't making any sound. (only got it a week ago-which is making everything a whole lot more confusing!)
A restart fixed the issue, but I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice about the source of the problem, and how to prevent it from happening again.
    Thanks for reading!!!

    :)

    SOUND DRIVER ISSUE

I am having the same issue and this didn't work for me as it said that no program files are contained in this folder and wouldn't let me proceed. I have tried everything to rectify this problem but to no avail...it even has my very clued in IT mates baffled....should
never have updated laptop to Windows 10 !!

Nonetheless I would be interested to hear alternative solutions,

    cheers,

    P

    To Fix:

    • Go to -

      VIA Driver Download Portal

VIA Drivers and Support Packages Download

    • Download and Save Version V11.1100e Dated: 29-Jan-2016.

    • Disconnect from your Internet Network (if wireless, de-select Connect Automatically).

    • Open Device Manager.

    • Go under the Sound, Video and Game Controllers field, right-click VIA HD Audio, select Uninstall and also Delete The Driver Software For This Device, then restart your computer. **Stay Off Of The Internet**

    • Extract the files from the installer .zip file. In those, double-click Setup.

    • Install the VIA HD Audio and restart your computer.

    • Re-connect to your Internet Network.

It's nasty habit MS has to update drivers when you're not looking and which may or may not be right for your system. You can stop that behavior this way:

Right-click the Start button and select the Control Panel entry in the context menu. Open the System applet and then click the Advanced system settings link to the left. On the System Properties dialog that appears, move to the Hardware tab and then click the Device Installation Settings button.

You'll be asked "do you want Windows to download driver software and realistic icons for your devices?" -- select the No, let me choose what to do option. A new subset of options will appear, and you just need to select the one labeled Never install driver software from Windows Update before clicking Save Changes.
That's all there is to it -- you'll have to manually check for and install driver updates from this point forward.

  7. Hey! Just wondering a few things. Do you know what kind of specific drivers would have caused this issue? And, if the problem persists, would it be worth my time taking the computer back as it's still under warranty? Thank you!

I don't know which CODEC chip that computer has, you could go to Device manager and find out.

  9. The problem still persists. Is there anything else I can do, or should I take the computer in to a technician?

Check which drivers are installed, might have automatically downloaded old ones again.

  11. How do I check which drivers I have/which ones are not right? My computer says they are all up to date.

Control Panel, Device Manager, "Sound, video and game controllers", (your sound device), "drivers" tab.

Thankyou for your help. I have checked and it says they are all up to date however I am still unsure that they are the correct drivers. I have tried going on the HP website and downloaded a program that checked my drivers; it is offering to optimize them if I pay $33. I am pretty desperate at this point and am considering purchasing this, but I am not sure if it will work.

  14. I'm not even sure that it is a driver problem at this point. I'm wondering if there could be another cause, since all of my drivers are up to date? Maybe a hardware issue? I am really lost on this and it is causing a lot of stress.

  15. UPDATE: I took my computer back, as I was certain it was a hardware issue after all my troubles. I got a replacement since I had not even been using the other one for a month, same model, etc. but alas, a few hours into use, the problem occurs again. Could it potentially be any of my devices' drivers causing this? I am really quite lost and would like some advice. Thank you.
