Windows 10: Having to re-pair bluetooth devices on two windows builds running on one machine.

I have two windows builds on one machine- they are on separate hard drives. Same versions and more or less the same build with different program sets for work and play.

What's strange is that when I go from one build to another, I need to go through the process of re-pairing and connecting bluetooth peripherals. In this case its a mouse and speaker. What's kind of weird is that the devices show on the builds when I sign in, but will not simply pair when you hit the pair button. Every time I switch OSes, I need to remove these devices, re-detect and re-pair. I would think that each build has its own registry and everything, so things would be pretty self contained within each build. Any suggestions?

Bluetooth Devices will not Pair


Hi,

Hopefully this is the correct Forum !

I have a Microsoft Mouse 5000 and Wedge keyboard (the early one that does not fold).
Both have been working perfectly.

Recently I paired them both successfully with a new Samsung tablet, but when I came to use them again on my laptop,
I found that I could not pair either of them.

I have spent countless hours researching this without success.

Here's where I am now:

Settings > Bluetooth & other devices does not list either of them.
Device Manager > Bluetooth has both of them showing and reports both working properly.

Device Manager reports as follows:

Notebook Mouse 5000:
No driver files are required or have been loaded
The Events tab says that further installation is required

Wedge Mobile Keyboard:
No driver files are required or have been loaded
The Events tab says that further installation is required

The 2 Service Discovery Service entries also report that further installation is required.

Can anyone suggest the way forward, please ?

Can't remove paired bluetooth devices in Windows 10

I made an account here just to thank you for this solution. I spent hours trying to remove a paired bluetooth controller from my machine from the bluetooth menu, device manager, even using third party programs. Every time I would go to pair the controller again the system would re-install the driver as soon as the controller went to pairing mode, but it wouldn't actually pair!

Removing it this way made it instantly show up in my pairing list and it works perfectly. I was about to reinstall Windows I was so frustrated.

Bluetooth headsets paired but not connected, not in Playback Devices (Windows 10)

I have this problem too, but only on one of two Windows 10 machines. My "good" machine is a Dell XPS13 laptop with internal Buletooth adapter. My "bad" machine is an HP Envy 15 laptop with an external ASUS USB-BT400 Bluetooth 4.0 adapter and ASUS's latest
install CD, whose files seem dated about 2013.

When I turn on Bluetooth in the "good" machine and enable pairing in my Plantronics Voyager Legacy bluetooth headset, under "Manage Bluetooth Devices" the device "PLT_Legend" shows up as Connected, there is a Device Manager > Bluetooth > PLT_Legend device,
and there are three Device Manager > Audio inputs and outputs entries related to PLT_Legend.

When I turn on Bluetooth in the "bad" machine and enable pairing in my Plantronics Voyager Legacy bluetooth headset, under "Manage Bluetooth Devices" the device "PLT_Legend" shows up as Paired, and there is a Device Manager > Bluetooth > PLT_Legend device,
but there are no Device Manager > Audio inputs and outputs entries related to PLT_Legend.

I tried steps 1 and 2 suggested above on my "bad"machine, but they didn't fix the problem. (In step 1 there was no Bluetooth headset driver to uninstall).

Any other suggestions for me to try??
