Hello to whom it may concern,I recently changed my CPU and had to do a re-activation of windows, but I encountered errors when entering the key I used when I initially installed windows 11 pro.I called support and was told the key was invalid so then I proceeded to buy a digital license via the Microsoft store but for some reason the activation failed.After finding out the digital license seems to be tied to my Microsoft account and that I can transfer the license to another PC I figured I should maybe do a clean re install of windows.So, I re installed windows 11 pro but it doesn't seem to re

Activation/Upgrade Error 0x803fa067

I tried to Updgrade my windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro.
I tried it with the default key that upgrades Windows 10 to pro without activating it(which is done in the second step).

The Universal-Key for Windows 10 Pro which is published by Microsoft is VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T. I tried that one but I get the error 0x803fa067.

I first tried it with the Windows 10 Settings using the Change Product Key Button in the Activation "Tab" And second with the command slmgr.vbs -ipk VK7JG-...
Both methods werent succesfull.

What the error originally means is: you don't have a digital licence or a valid Product Key.
I guess either the newly bought laptop was delivered with a fraudulent license( then microsoft is bluntly lying to me)





or the error message isn't quite correct. In this case I would go with my second guess

I am not sure why this Problem occures, so my question is: why do I get the Error 0x803fa067?
I am aware of the fact that I could reinstall Windows 10 Pro(which is the way I will probably do it) but I am intrigued to know how I could resolve the Problem without spending those extra 15 minutes.

 

Having trouble activating Windows license

I am using Parallels virtual desktop to access Windows on my Mac for work purposes. I have a company domain Microsoft account and my employer purchased a Windows license for me. I can see the Microsoft license when I log into Microsoft in Mac/Chrome. However when I try to log into my Microsoft account through the Windows settings to link the license, it says I do not have a Microsoft account.

These are the steps I am doing:

1. Open Parallels virtual desktop and launch Windows
   
2. Open Settings. Activation state reads: "Windows reported that no product key was found on your device".
   
3. Click Troubleshoot.
   
4. Click "I changed hardware on this device recently".
   
5. Put in my email for Microsoft. I get the error message here that my Microsoft account doesn't exist.

That's interesting. So you are suggesting after I make my next clone, I enter a generic product key in windows activation and THEN follow up with purchasing (or transferring) a digital license? Do I understand you correctly? If so, I'll try that on my next build.

It is possible. My only experience seeing it not cleared up in an hour (besides, of course, having the wrong time on my machine or a truly faulty connection) was many years ago. When I contacted Microsoft, they were able to diagnose that my license wasn't valid but couldn't tell me why. If memory serves me correctly, I attempted to move a license from a windows ten machine that initially was an upgrade from windows seven. I discovered (on this forum) that a windows ten license that was upgraded from windows seven license was not eligible to be transferred to a new machine. And I was not able to purchase a digital license. I needed a product key.

I couldn't find reputable dealers that are still selling retail windows 10 licenses (for example, Best Buy only lists the Spanish version of windows home on their website). But since I just learned that a windows 11 license can be used my concern has been allayed.
