Windows 10: Having trouble with network printers suddenly disconnecting.

I work for a small business that has 6 printers connected to our network, 2 are connected directly into the network while the other 4 are connected by USB and shared to the network by the computer they are plugged into. I am the unofficial tech expert of my business, and have been having issues lately where computers are suddenly unable to print to certain printers. When this happens, it isn't a complete disconnect. Some computers will still be able to print to the printer in question, and the computer that won't print to that printer will still print to others around the office. I can fix this problem by completely removing the printer from the devices screen and then going through the setup process again, but I would like to find a solution to this problem rather than just this workaround, as it delays productivity and aggravates my coworkers and myself. We have 12 workstations and 1 dedicated server around the office all with either Windows 7 or 10. Printers - 2 HP Envy 5000 series, 1 HP Officejet Pro 9010 series, 1 Brother don't know the model, and 2 DYMO Labelwriter 250's. Any suggestions?

Having trouble deleting printer


I have had a Canon Pixma MX850 for several years and it has been a workhorse. Recently I purchased a Canon Pixma MX492 for the added wifi capability. Under no circumstances am I able to remove the MX850 from the Printers and Devices menu. I have been on the phone with Microsoft and Canon several hours over the last week. It still sits there as I type this. When I install the MX492 and update drivers, it still does not show on the printers list and is not recognized when I try to add a printer to the list.

The Canon tech I spoke to suggested there might be a corrupt file or malware somewhere not allowing the removal of the MX850. He suggested I create a new Admin account which would create a new registry and see how that worked. I did that and the MX492 shows up on the printers list and is the default printer.

When I am on my old admin sign on where the MX850 shows up, I can print in Word and Quicken on the MX492 even though it does not show as a printer on the printer page.

So, what to do?

trying to reinstall a printer, in order to get it online again...difficulty

H aving trouble reinstalling a printer (on windows 10) after uninstalling it, with the intention of reinstalling it again. have changed my network name and password, so is that why it suddenly was suddenly off lineÉ

also, when i went through the steps to reinstall, it showed me the printer i have was not on the list to choose from........how can i get it back on the list, so i can continue the reinstalling process

Hi Eileen,

• As far as i'm aware nothing has changed
• i have only tried to send test pages to the network printer so im assuming so yes
• wireless printer works fine when connected to both networks. However the wifi doesn't connect auto when an Ethernet connection is established this has to be manually connected.

I have tried the following:

• updated the print driver
• changed the network port it was plugged into
• ran windows updates
• configured with a static
• changed the wifi and Ethernet priority

I will run through the trouble shoot steps as suggest and come back to you.

FYI - he has a number of extenders dotted around, a collegue mentioned it could be a subnet issue?
