    HD Audio Controller not working


    This morning I went to use my laptop and I discovered that the HD Audio Controller isn't working. After some digging, I think it's a driver issue but I have no idea how to fix it.

    Via HD Audio - Sound and Mic not working


    I went around and around with this problem too (ASUS S500CA microphone would not work after Win10 upgrade). After much frustration the fix ended up being very simple. From device manager, under: sound, video and game controllers select VIA HD or VIA HD(Win10) driver, select update driver, choose "browse computer," then "let me pick from list," then select the generic High Definition Audio driver (not any of the VIA HD choices) install, restart, fixed.

    Interestingly, an update changed my driver back to VA HD(win10) today, microphone stopped working again. I quickly fixed by changing it back to generic driver.

    Here is the list of supported audio chips: VIA HD Audio Codecs VT1702S, VT1705, VT1708B, VT1708S, VT1716S, VT1718S, VIA HD Audio Codecs VT2010, VT2002P, VT2020S, VIA HD Audio Codecs VT1812S, VT1818, VT1828S

    The VIA VT1708A is not listed here...Should it make a difference in sound chip versions?

    HD Audio Controller not working

    Intel HD 2000 - Missing HD Audio Support Formats

    I have a OptiPlex 390 with Intel HD 2000 connected via HDMI to a Denon X2200W. The "DENON-AVR" playback device uses a "High Definition Audio" controller which has a max. of 8 channels but does not list an HD audio formats in the "Supported Formats" tab's
    "Encoded Formats" section. It has "DTS Audio", "Dolby Digital Plus", and "Dolby Digit" formats but no HD versions. As such, MPC-HC is not working for any HD audio (DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD, etc.). I thought I read it supports these formats?
