    HDD Format result


    Last week I/we replaced an old 2.5 inch SATA HDD (500gb) with a Samsung 850 EVO, also 500gb. Laptop and all installed items are company supplied and company owned.

    Instruction memo from IT Dept. suggested using the removed HDD as a portable HDD by enclosing same in a SATA to USB HDD enclosure. Once that was accomplished our instruction memo had us format the HDD, which resulted in a formerly 500gb HDD, once re-format was complete, now showing as Local Disk (DHDD Format result :) at 14.6gb; OS (EHDD Format result :) 389gb free of 451gb.

    Did I (inadvertently) partition the HDD during the re-format? If so, is it easily reversed or corrected to simple un-partitioned or non-partitioned drive?

    How do I copy a DVD and finalize Disc in Windows 10?

    I have WIN 10 up to date and copying from an apparently finalized dvd (works in a dvd vcr player) to the HDD and then burning a new dvd disk still resulted in a dvd that shows unsupported format on the vcr.

    formatting drives

    If the old hdd appears in file explorer right mouse on it format it / do a quick format

    Is there anything on it windows uses (on the new hdd)?? If there is, that'll be why you cant format it

    HDD Format result

    Open disk manager and if there are 2 paritions delete both then create 1 new one and format it

    Thanks, Samuria.

    Both were located and deleted using Disk Manager. Drive remains connected and working but is no longer recognized by Windows 10.
