HDD randomly disappeared from system (back again after restart)

Good day I am running windows version 21H1 (OS Build 1904.1151) My 1TB HDD all of a sudden just disappeared while working in windows. At the time i had just finished installing World War Z - think i played for about 5 minutes when i had a CTD. Thought nothing about it - went about trying to restart the game and after many failed attempts to restart finally went to windows explorer to discover the drive had magically disappeared. Upon restart the drive was back again - this is the first in 3 years of having this PC that i have experienced this type of issue. The drive itself is attached properly with no cables loose. Ill do error checking and scan for any viruses but any other idea as to what may have caused the issue? Thank you.

    :)

  2. HDD disappear when used

    Hi,

Hardware failure or corruption within your system files are some of the possible reasons why you are experiencing an issue with using your SSD and HDD. For us to provide an accurate solution, we would need you to answer the following questions:

    • Which build and edition of Windows 10?
    • What changes were made to your device before this issue occurred?

In the meantime, we suggest running the automated troubleshooter for hardware. Follow these steps to do so:

    • Open the Control Panel.
    • Using the search box at the upper right corner of the window, type troubleshooting.
    • From the search results, click on Troubleshooting.
    • Click on Hardware and Sound and then choose Hardware and Devices.
    • Once done, restart your computer and then check if the same issue persists.

We are looking forward to your response.

  3. Most used apps list in start menu appears and disappears randomly upon restart.

When i restart my windows 10 pro the most used apps list in the start menu disappears and appears randomly. sometimes after a restart it disappears and when i lunch any app it gets added to the most used list and then when i restart again it appears empty
    again.

And in other times after i restart it appears normally with a full list of my most used apps from before. how to fix this annoying issue?

    unlock hdd

    Hi Johan,

    It is possible that your
    HDD was unreadable
causing the error message to appear. We recommend that you perform these troubleshooting steps and check if there are any changes:

    • Shutdown
      your
      PC.

    • Unhooked
      the
      HDD
      and
      turn on
      your
      PC.

    • Reconnect
      your
      HDD
      and
      restart
      your
      PC.

If the issue persists, we suggest that you contact your
    laptop/computer's manufacturer
    for further assistance.

Update us on how it goes.

    Regards.
