Windows 10: Hdmi audio cuts out but speakers work and other inputs work

The problem started after i installed my new motherboard Asus ROG Strix B550-F Gaming

ive always used the hdmi for sound. i have speakers connected to the monitor. but now when i try to f.ex. try to play music on spotify it plays for maybe 2 seconds and then it says "Cant play the current song". same with youtube, plays for a few seconds and then starts "loading" indefintely even though video is already finished loading. this does not happen if i use another my headphones that connect via usb.

DVI audio to speakers - not working.

Audio works on DVI because you can send a HDMI signal over it (which carries an audio signal). However the cable OP linked will not work because the audio jack does not use this signal, it uses the input jack. He should try to use the speakers directly on the tv.

 

Anything that takes DVI and Analog Audio Input and Outputs HDMI

my TV's HDMI 4 has a 3.5mm analog input. i use that to avoid issues with HDMI cutting out after sleep mode, while still letting the TV utilise my external speakers.

 

Audio Issues Switching Between HDMI Inputs

Having problems with audio when switching between HDMI Inputs. Have tried updating drivers, changing output devices, windows audio restart, switching which HDMI they are on, changed HDMI cords etc. NOTHING works. We have a PC in HDMI 3 and a PS4 in HDMI 2. HDMI 2 always works fine. However, when switching back to the PC, we MUST restart the PC when we switch inputs back to it in order to receive audio.

We also have the issue if we turn off the display and leave the pc running. We must restart the entire computer before we receive audio in the PC input. We are assuming this is a windows issue of some sort because we don't have the issue with the PS4 input. Only when we are on the PC.

We have never had these issues before under the same setup for a few years now. Issues arose on their own in the past few months,

Any suggestions?
