Windows 10: HDMI Connecting but not showing screen

When I connect my laptop to a monitor through HDMI, the computer reacts as if it's been connected, and I can drag things over to the other "screen" but the screen itself stays black. It worked for about 4 months just fine, then one day this problem came up out of nowhere.If I am on Microsoft Teams I can also share that screen, and while I still see a black screen, the people I'm sharing the screen with can see the usual computer background i.e., not blacked out.I've checked the monitor's brightness and contrast to make sure it's not just way down, and that didn't work. Sound works fine only issue with me is underscan when connecting to my tv.

I would suggest you to follow the steps and check if it helps. First check if “HDMI Output” is selected as the default device.

• Click Start and select Control Panel.
• On the right hand side of the screen, under View by: click the drop-down icon and select Large icons.
• Click Sound.
• If you do not have the HDMI Output listed under “Playback” tab, right click in the
  playback window and select Show Disabled Device and
  Show Disconnected Device.
• If the HDMI Output option appears, right-click HDMI Output
  and select Default Device.
• Now the audio must be playing on HDMI.

Also try updating the recent HDMI drivers from the manufacturer’s website and check if the issue is resolved.

You may also unplug and plug in back the HDMI output and check.

I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps:

Method 1:

I would suggest you to disconnect the HDMI cable and try to connect it buy following these steps.

• Turn off your computer and position it within easy reach of your TV. Disconnect the monitor, but leave the mouse and keyboard connected.
• Connect the appropriate video cable from your computer's output to your TV.
• Turn on your TV and set it to the input that matches the output on your computer. You might need to refer to the user's guide included with your TV for instructions on how to do this.
• Turn on your computer.
• You should see Windows displayed on your TV. If the screen looks stretched, or part of the screen seems cut off, you probably need to adjust the screen resolution in Windows.
• If you can't see Windows on your TV, you might need to reconnect the computer to your monitor and adjust the screen resolution before you connect to your TV.

To adjust screen resolution follow this steps:

• Right click on the screen and select Screen Resolution.
• Check if the resolution is set to 1024x768.
• If it is not, then set it to 1024x768.
