Windows 10: HDMI connection Input or Output?

    HDMI Output

    Set your TV's input to whichever HDMI port the HDMI cable is connected to. PC Mode is a VGA (analogue) input. HDMI is a digital input.

    Note that HDMI carries sound and may now be the default sound output. That can be changed in Playback Devices. If you want HDMI sound you may need to install an HDMI sound driver.

    On 99.99% of PC's and laptops the HDMI Port(s) are output only, there are some really high-end laptops that also have HDMI input, but they are very rare indeed . .

    There will always be a HDMI socket in a laptop, but they generally are output only not input . . .
