  1. HDMI to DisplayPort Will it make it 4k@60 compatible?

Hello, I just had a question regarding a small thing that maybe some people can help me out with. I have one single HDMI port on my computer and a VGA port. I also have Intel HD 630 Integrated Graphics. This is rated for up to 4096x2304@24Hz on HDMI, and 24-30hz counts for anything above 1080p I have noticed, but, it is also rated for up to 4096x2304@60Hz on DP, and eDP. I am running off of a Sony TV, with only HDMI ports, and supports up to 4k@120z if I remember correctly on certain things. I was wondering if I connect a 4K@60Hz capable HDMI to DP adapter to my computers HDMI, and to my T

StarTech Announces New DisplayPort to HDMI and Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapters

StarTech.com, a leading manufacturer of hard-to-find connectivity parts, has announced the availability of three new Active 4K-capable Video Adapters, which enable users to stream audio and video from their DisplayPort 1.2 or Mini DisplayPort 1.2-equipped computer to an HDMI-equipped TV, monitor or projector. The new adapters offer active signal conversion, which unlike passive video adapters does not require a multi-mode DisplayPort (DP++) source signal, greatly expanding compatibility options.

is my spare hdmi cable bad

Your link is to a DisplayPort cable. It looks similar to an HDMI cable, but it is not compatible. (Look closely at the connectors.) You want an HDMI cable.

    DisplayPort - Wikipedia

    HDMI - Wikipedia

Your KDL-42W800B is a full HD (1080p) display., and its specifications don't list any refresh rates above above 60 Hz. You wouldn't get any benefit from an HDMI 2.1 cable (for 8k/60 Hz or 4k/120Hz). Or even a certified premium HDMI 2.0b cable (for 4k/60Hz).

Cables like those rarely fail, in normal use. The connectors (on the cable, TV, or PC) can be damaged.

HDMI to DisplayPort Will it make it 4k@60 compatible?

HDMI cable not detected by computer

I want to connect to a monitor or TV with HDMI. No signal to either. Monitor says "no signal coming from your computer".

I have tried with no success:

    • HDMI directly into Nvidia 980 HDMI slot
    • HDMI directly into motherboard slot, Intel i6700k with integrated graphics
    • HDMI indirectly into HDMI(female)-to-Displayport(male) adapter, into Nvidia 980 Displayport slots
    I have verified:

    • Cable plugged into second computer, connected fine to monitor and TV
    • Tried different HDMI cable, same results on both computers
    • Displayport slots on Nvidia 980 work on monitor with DP-mDP cable
    • Both monitor and TV are 4k. Output is 4k on other computer, and 4k using Displayport on this computer.
    • Used newest graphics driver for Nvidia 980
    • Used old graphics driver (2020) for Nvidia 980
All cases, other computer connected successfully and this computer received "no signal"

Other than the hardware checks and the driver checks, I am not sure what other steps I should try.

Since it applies to both Nvidia 980 and motherboard, and since Displayport works but HDMI through Displayport doesn't work, I feel like there is some issue in the computer working with HDMI signals.

    Thanks, Ahmad
