    Headphone audio suddenly much quieter

Recently the audio in my headphones has become much quieter to the point where I need to have the volume set within the 80-85 range to hear things at normal volume. I switched to another USB port on my computer which worked and had the correct volume, however it has recently began acting the same as the other port. I cannot use the 3.5mm port because of complications with it. I have tried reinstalling drivers, restarting audio services, and changing audio settings in device manager, but none have worked.

    :)

i would also recommend looking at the Audio Technica m50s if this is your first step into audiophile headphones.

most of the cans you listed will also need an amp to push them.

Move audio to one side for speakers but not headphones

    Hello J1mmyth3F1sh,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    • Is your headphones getting detected in the Playback settings?
    • Are you trying to play the audio on both Speakers and Headphones at the same time?

Ideally, if you have configured Sound settings to play on your left speakers, the same goes with the headphones. The sound starts playing only on the left side of your headphones according to the settings changed.

Meanwhile, we can try configuring the headphones and change the balance level in the sound settings and see if it works. Kindly check with the steps listed below and see if it helps.

Method : Run audio test for your headphones.

    • Open Control Panel from the Start menu and click on
      Sound.
    • In the Sound window, click on your
Headphones and select Configure option at the bottom left.
    • By running the test, check if both sides of your headphones are working fine.

If that doesn’t help, I would suggest you to check with the audio balance by following the steps listed below:

    • Open Sound settings from
      Control Panel,
and right click on the Headphones to open its
      Properties.
    • Click on Levels tab and select
      Balance
button. In the Balance window, you can use the slider to balance both left and right headphones equally.

However, I commend and appreciate you for recognizing this behavior. This is a valuable suggestion as there may be other users with a similar requirement. Hence, I suggest you to leave a
    Feedback for this product so
that our developer team can look into this and check if it can be implemented in the future updates.

    Regards,

    Headphones Suddenly Dont Work!

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

What is the make and model of your computer and Headphones?

As an initial troubleshooting step I suggest you to unplug the Headphones restart your computer and plug in Headphones and check if that helps. Sound problems can be caused by cables that aren't connected properly, damaged drivers, incompatible drivers,
sound settings, missing updates, and problems with your sound card. Follow the Methods below.

Method 1: Run the Audio Troubleshooter on the system

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Sound. I would suggest you to run this

troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your Audio

    Refer these steps:

    • Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.
    • Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.
    • Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
    • Run the playing Audio troubleshooter

If issue persists follow next Method.

    Method 2.

Try updating the Audio drivers from the manufacturer's website and check if the issue persists.

Follow the steps to update the audio drivers:

    a. Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager.

    b. Expand the Sound, Video and game controllers.

    c. Right-click on the Sound card and click on Update driver software.

    d. Restart the computer and check.

Hope this information is helpful. Please do let us know if you need further assistance, we’ll be glad to assist you.

    Thanks
