Windows 10: headphone jack on windows 10

i've had this problem for a few months now and it really starting to piss me of. my headphones are brand new and the work perfectly fine on every other device.

if i plug my headphones in they don't work, unless i shutdown my laptop plug them in and turn my laptop back on, i dont know whats going on.

if this helps my laptop is a Dell inspiron 15 5000
