Windows 10: Headphone jack question

Hello everyone,


So we've had several end users say that their 3.5mm headphone jack on their PCs only works when the PC is first booted up with the headphones plugged in. If you unplug the headphones after Windows has already booted up and then plug the headphones back in, there is no sound. The PC also doesn't seem to recognize that anything is connected/disco'd from that jack.


USB headphones work fine. It's just the 3.5mm headphone jack.


So far we've only had laptop users cite issues. Haven't tested this out on a desktop.


I've been able to duplicate the issue on both Dell and HP machines. Both are running Windows 10.


I'm not finding anything I haven't already tried on Google. Updating drivers, etc. Has anyone else run into this? Do we know if it's a Windows issue?

Issues with headphones or headphone jack could have happened due to hardware issues. To isolate your concern, we suggest that you update your driver. You can follow this
link for the steps on how to update drivers in Windows 10.

If the issue still occurs, we suggest that you contact your manufacturer to check and troubleshoot your hardware issue with headphone jack.

• Are you getting any error messages? If yes, what is the exact error message?
• To make sure that we have not missed on anything, what troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

Headphone Jack Question.

I plug my headphones/mic into the mobo jacks, 2 plugs one for phones one for mic. My son like to sit and watch while I play and he wants to listen on the headphones. Is there a Jack adaptor or a way I can use 2 sets of headphones and still use my mic?
