Windows 10: Headphone sound suddenly become quiet and have tried multiple solutions already

My motherboard came with a realtek sound card and my headphones sound used to be much louder than it is at the moment. This has been going on for a week and I have tried multiple solutions which all did not work:

-Trying to find the enhancements tab on my device in the audio control panel (there is no enhancements tab for me)

- Uninstalling driver and install some older realtek driver or reinstalling the latest one

- Opening volume mixer and setting everything to maximum (was already all at maximum)

- Restarting pc without headphones plugged

- Using different audio driver


None of the above worked.


My headphones are also bluetooth but I am plugging them in. When the headphones are connected via bluetooth it becomes much louder and the sound quality is much better. I have tested with other headphones which were only wired and they were also quiet. So this obviously does not have to do anything with the headphones themselves.

Thanks Dalchina. They are Bose Headphones that use a plain ordinary analogue, not USB. They do not require a driver.

I had spent over 3 hours searching for a solution before I had posted here. 90% of them were marked as resolved simply by updating the sound driver from the device manager then rebooting the computer. As I said, I have tried this, multiple times and it was still not resolved.

There's a possibility that some settings in your sound properties are not properly set. For possible solution, we suggest that you follow the suggested workaround provided by
Yashwanth Kotakuri on this thread.

We also suggest that you check the balance level of your headphone by following these steps:

• Right click the little speaker icon near the clock on the taskbar.
• Click Playback devices.
• Double-click the Headphones.
• Click the Levels tab.
• Then check the Balance of left and right.

Hi, what sort of headphones are they? Plain ordinary analogue.. USB..?
Do they require a driver? If so, is it installed ok?
