Windows 10: Headphones are plugged in however only my HDMI shows.

I factory reset my computer 2 days ago and when I plugged everything in only my HDMI shows as an audio device and not my pair of headphones. I have no speakers connected and my monitor/HDMI device doesn't play sound in the first place.I use:Windows 10 Pro 64-bitCPU: AMD Ryzen 3RAM: 16 GB TeamGroup DDR4GPU: AMD Radeon Vega 3 If you need any other specifications let me know.- I've already tried updating drivers and installing updates along with disabling the device and restarting and/or unplugging and plugging back in

Computer Won't Auto Change the Playback Device When Headphones Plugged In/Out

Is the issue specific to only Headphones/ Does External Speaker play when plugged in?

I suggest you to try resetting the default device as shown in the steps given below and check if the issue persists.

  Plug in the Headphones in the machine.
  
• 
  Go to Start and Control Panel.
  
• 
  Select 'Hardware and Sound'.
  
• 
  Click 'Change system sounds'.
  
• 
  Click 'Playback' tab. (It should then show you your headphones in the list).
  
• 
  Select your proper Headphone device from the list, then Click 'Set Default'.
  
• 
  Now unplug your Headphones and select speakers from the list, then Click 'Set Default'.

I plug my HDMI cable into the card, then into my TV. Those are the steps that I have to do. All the steps you list make absolutely no sense to me.

 

Is it possible to play sound through headphones and HDMI output simultaneously?

I would like to inform that it is not possible to output sound through both the HDMI and the headphone jack simultaneously.

But you can watch video through HDMI and listen via headphone jack.

Follow the steps below.

• Right click on the speaker icon in the taskbar
• Left click playback devices
• Right click HDMI
• Select Disable.
