    Headphones can't have input and output


    Hi. I have these headphones https://www.bose.com/en_us/products/headphones/over_ear_headphones/quietcomfort-35-wireless-ii.html#v=qc35_ii_black or an older model, but essentially those ones. It connects via Bluetooth to the computer just fine, and I can set my output to it so I get audio, but when I try to set my input to its mic alongside the audio, all I hear is white noise. Is there a way to get both input and output connected properly so I can use my mic and receive audio at the same time?


    For context, I use the headphones on Discord calls and video games though I've recently been having problems with Discord so I deleted it off the computer.

    Trouble with the input and output settings with my headphones

    My headphones have a mic built in that does not hang off the side of the headphones. I want them to be both my input and output device but it will only allow me to have it be one. The input device ends up being the one on the laptop that is very
    loud because of the fan constantly sounding like I'm in a barber shop. Wondering if anyone can help. Thanks.

    • Have you checked plugging the headphone to a different jack on the same computer?

    • Have you checked if any other sound device work fine when plugged to the problematic jack?

    This issue might be occurring due to incompatible drivers or broken jack. There might be a possibility that the headphone is not compatible with windows 10 operating system. Hence I would suggest you to follow the below mentioned
    steps and check if that helps.

    Method 1:
    Hardware and devices troubleshooter


    The built-in hardware and devices troubleshooter can automatically detect and fix most of the incorrect settings and errors that could cause issues with hardware. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if there is any issue with
    the display adapter. Refer top these steps:

    • Open Control Panel
    • Click on Troubleshooting and select the view all option on the left pane.
    • Click on Hardware and devices troubleshooter and follow the prompts.

    Try method 2, if the issue persist

    Method 2: If the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter do not fix
    the issue then I would suggest you to uninstall the drivers and reboot the computer to get the updated drivers installed for the headphone. Please follow below mentioned steps:

    • Open Control Panel
    • Click on Device Manager and select the audio input and output drivers
    • Right click on driver that appears after plugging the headphone and click on uninstall
    • After uninstalling, unplug the headphone and restart the computer
    • Plugging the headphone again and the computer will detect the updates drivers automatically.

    Now check if the headphones work on the computer or not.

    As the issue still persists, I suggest you to try the steps below and check if this helps.

    Update the Audio inputs and outputs in Device manager by following the steps below:

    • Connect the earphones/headphone to the PC.
    • Press Windows logo + X keys
      on the keyboard select Device Manager from the options.
    • Expand Audio inputs and outputs option and check if the earphone/headphone drivers are visible in the window.
    • If yes, right-click on the driver and select Update this software
      option.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions and wait for the update to complete.
    • Close the window after the update is complete and check if the changes are effective.
    • If not visible, download and install the latest and most compatible device drivers from the manufacturer’s website and check if the issue is resolved.
