    I've been using these wired headphones for months with no issues. Suddenly, they stopped playing audio when connected to my laptop Legion 5 82JW. I have updated my drivers, turned up the levels in Control Panel, with no success. I even reinstalled Windows 11, to no avail. I know the issue is not with my headphones or cord, as I have tried with multiple cables, and they work fine on other devices. The internal speakers work when I unplug my headphones, but the headphones do not. Please help.

    Hi,

    This issue may have been caused by a corrupted Audio driver or defective audio port.

    To better understand this concern please answer the following questions:

    • Are you still able to play music using a built-in speakers?
    • Have you tried using other headphones or external speakers?

    We also suggest that you run audio troubleshooter by following these steps:

    • Type "troubleshooting" on the search box.
    • Select Troubleshooting on the result.
    • Click View all.
    • Choose Playing Audio then follow the instructions.

    Move audio to one side for speakers but not headphones

    Hello J1mmyth3F1sh,

    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    • Is your headphones getting detected in the Playback settings?
    • Are you trying to play the audio on both Speakers and Headphones at the same time?

    Ideally, if you have configured Sound settings to play on your left speakers, the same goes with the headphones. The sound starts playing only on the left side of your headphones according to the settings changed.

    Meanwhile, we can try configuring the headphones and change the balance level in the sound settings and see if it works. Kindly check with the steps listed below and see if it helps.

    Method : Run audio test for your headphones.

    • Open Control Panel from the Start menu and click on
      Sound.
    • In the Sound window, click on your
      Headphones and select Configure option at the bottom left.
    • By running the test, check if both sides of your headphones are working fine.

    If that doesn’t help, I would suggest you to check with the audio balance by following the steps listed below:

    • Open Sound settings from
      Control Panel,
      and right click on the Headphones to open its
      Properties.
    • Click on Levels tab and select
      Balance
      button. In the Balance window, you can use the slider to balance both left and right headphones equally.

    Headphones detected, but not playing audio

    Headphones not being detected, not playing any audio

    Hello,

    I recently bought a new MSI Stealth laptop, with Windows 10, and did a thorough hard drive scan, which I let run til completion.

    Before this, I was able to play anything on my laptop through my headphones. After this hard drive scan, suddenly my headphones cannot be detected, and no audio will play through them. The audio cuts off as I plug in my headphones, so it's not still playing
    via the laptop speakers.

    I've tried with more than one headphone/earphone, and with more than one audio source (e.g. Youtube video, iTunes), same result.

    When I check my audio devices (by right-clicking the volume icon on the bottom right, and clicking 'Sounds'), it shows the headphones as 'not plugged in'. I cannot 'Set to Default' as this button is grayed out, meaning I cannot click it.

    I tried going to Device Manager and scanning for hardware changes, updating driver software, restarting PC etc, nothing has resolved it. I haven't tried uninstalling it as I wasn't sure if this would do more harm than good in the end?

    The Devices I have under 'Sound, video and game controllers' are:

    Intel(R) Display Audio

    NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)

    Realtek High Definition Audio

    Any suggestions would be welcome!
