Windows 10: Headphones not working - Windows 10

When using Skype in the recent past the microphone volume was pathetic. After many trials and errors I removed Realtek and reinstalled it. So everything should be running properly. The microphone certainly now works perfectly.


The same cannot be said for my headphones. After mainy frustrating attempts I cannot get Windows to recognise my headphones are connected.


However:-


I plug in my headphones and restart my computer. After restart the headphones operation is perfect and works exactly as I would expect. BUT. If I unplug the headphones the sound now emenates perfectly from the built in speakers and then plug the phones back in, there is not a sound from them, only from the speakers.


In brief. my phones work perfectly. The jack plug connection works perfectly. The volume controls can work perfectly. Windows simply does not recognise the headphones have been re-plugged in.


I have recently had to re-install Windows because of a system failure. Before the failure there was absolutely no problem at all.


Can you please provide some help and advice. It will be much appreciated.

• What is the make and model of your device?
• What are the troubleshooting steps you have tried to resolve the issue?
• How have you connected the headphones to your device?
• Were you able to see if the headphones detected on your computer?

As a work around, try the below and update us the status of this issue:

• I suggest you to connect the headphones to different device and check if the headphone is working fine. This will help us to detect if the issue is with headphone.
• If headphones are working fine on other devices, try to connect the headphones to different ports on the PC in the question and check if it is working fine. This will help us to know if the issue is with ports.

I recommend you to install all the pending updates on your device and check if it helps.

Steps:

• Connect to the internet.
• Press Windows key and type updates.
• Click on Check for updates.
• Under Windows Updates, click on Check for updates.
• Try to install the updates being shown.

Did not work, I get sound thru the speakers but not from headphone at all.
