Windows 10: Headset can only be set to a mic or headphones not both

When I connect my headset to my pc realtek audio manager comes up and asks me if I have plugged in a mic,line in or headphones


If I click mic it will utilise the mic but no audio will play out into the headset


If I click headphones I can hear sound but cant use the mic


I have watched many tutorials and searched the Internet it feels like I have tried everything. I have looked to see if any devices are disabled non are I have done the troubleshooter for mic and audio i have deleted then reinstalled the drives but nothing has worked .

Realtek audio manager only lets me use mic or headphones and not both

Hello, I was recently playing a game with my friend and I wanted to talk to him with my mic. I have a turtle beach headset with a built in mic. My pc has 2 headphone ports on the front, one for just headphones, and one for both headphones and a mic. When
I plugged my headset into the headset and mic port, it brought me to the realtek hd audio manager and it asked me if i plugged in a mic or a headset. If I click mic, than only my mic works and if I click headphones, only my headphones work and my mic doesn’t.
How do I get both to work? Please Help!

My pc is an hp 8300 elite small form factor. I tested my headset and mic on my xbox and it worked fine.

 

Laptop not splitting headset mic & audio?

Hi
Simple version. When i plug in my headset to my laptop windows10 is not splitting it into one output and one input.

I fixed this years back by setting the popup box 'whats plugged in' from headphone to headset. Then it split the audio and mic. However i had to reinstall windows and now when i select headset it just mutes my laptop mic and audio manager just shows the one mic, but two audio outputs.

It was working before the reset and i have tested the headset on another computer and it is working find.
So far i tried device manage audio driver install, for both Realtek driver and High Definition driver but either resolve the issue.

Any suggestions why windows would pick up one and not the other?

I currently have it set to headphone plugged in so that i can use my laptop mic, but ive been told i sound really bad *Sad

Mic and Headset

Ok so basically, I have a gaming headset with a mic, I plugged it in via audio jack of my windows 10 computer. At the beginning each time I plugged in my headset my computer would ask me what I plugged in (Headphones, Mic, ETC). So I set it to headphones
and clicked: Don't ask me again. But now I want to use my headset AND my mic and since it doesn't ask me I can only use my headphones. What should I do o' great powerful one?
