Windows 10: Headset giving loud static and makes voice a pitch higher when I load into certain games

I have a wired headset plugged into my AM8 microphone so I can use the built in voice monitoring etc. When I load into certain games such as Assetto Corsa, I start to hear a loud static noise, and my friends on discord say my voice increases in pitch slightly. I can temporarily fix it by enabling a different mic and re-enabling the AM8. In the mean time I can switch headsets completely to a Bluetooth headset. The wired headset works perfectly fine until I open certain games, then the problem arises. If needed I can try to record an example. I do prefer the wired headset as the sound quality

Headset Mic randomly making loud noises

So when I'm playing games with my friends my headset randomly makes very loud noises and it's apparently because I scream.

So this problem started today:
I have a headset with attached mic. The headset is connected to the computer via 2 3.5mm plugs, one for the sound, one for the mic as it is normally.
When I plug in the sound cable, the headset works fine. I can listen to music/videos etc without an issue.
However, as soon as I plug in my mic via cable, the headset makes an incredibly loud static sound that I cannot turn off unless I unplug the microphone again. The static is not produced when I try to talk through the mic or anything but constantly comes through the headset as actual sound.

I use windows10 and have made an update a few hours ago, perhaps that was the issue but I am not certain. The cables are plugged in correctly and are clean as well.

What are some fixes I could try? Or is it likely that my headset is broken or somehow it's cable is broken?
(I have not found any other post describing a similar issue)

 

Loud Static Through Speakers Problem

Im Getting Loud Static Through Speakers When First Starting Up Before Windows Plays The Startup Sound, The Loud Static Stops After The Windows Startup Sound Plays. Seems Like Ive Had This Problem After Overclocking. Specs Are As Listed, Please Help.
