Windows 10: Headset is not being detected after update

I have an Astro A10 headset and recently, after an update "Feature update to Windows 10, version 2004", the headset is not being recognized by my computer. I have a single jack on my laptop and don't need a splitter. I can still hear through the headphones but my microphone for the headset isn't working. I have checked my privacy settings and my microphone has access to all of them, my drivers are up to date, and I can't find the headset microphone in the device management section to set as the default one. I've done the typical turn the laptop on and off again as well unplugged and plugged back in the headset. I had a few quality updates since the most recent feature update that messed up the microphone. If it's important, I'll add that the built in mic on the laptop is working fine.


Any suggestions? The laptop is a little over two years old Acer Nitro 5 and the headset is four or five months old.

Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue

 

Headset Mics not detected

• Is the headset detected under Device manager?

• On the Start menu, type Troubleshooting, and then hit
  Enter.
  
• On the left pane, click View all.
  
• Select and run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

USB headset not detected

I have a Koss CS95-USB headset that work flawlessly with windows 7. After upgrading to windows 10 the headset does not work at all. Windows 10 does not even act as if it detects the device being plugged in. No pop-up saying a new device is detected, no
device in the device manager to even look at. I have looked at all the problem post about USB headset and tried all the solution listed but non of them are useful because they all rely on updating or changing the installed driver and since my device doesn't
even get detected no driver is installed to change.

If anybody has a solution or if someone can give me a USB headset model that definitely works with windows 10 that would be very helpful.
