Windows 10: Headset Mic and Speakers cannot be used at the same time

I have a problem with my headset. Whenever I go into Discord or another app that uses the microphone, the speakers on my headset stop working, so its either I hear them but they cant hear me or I cant hear them and they can hear me. I have tried giving applications exclusive control, followed everything in this thread https://answers.presonus.com/18175/impossible-the-microphone-and-the-speakers-work-the-same-time , but nothing works. I went to the speaker icon on the taskbar, made sure it was my headset as the output nothing. Made it the default device and updated/reinstalled the drivers. If its important I have a Mpow 059 headset. When I go down to the speaker icon on the taskbar the headset has 2 modes, Stereo the one it uses most of the time when I'm not in a call and Hands-Free, the one it defaults to when using the mic. Both Stereo and Hands-Free can play music, but the moment I start using the mic they both turn 'off'.

Gaming mic and headset

I'm sick of using my mic which gives terrible feedback and loops the audio of the speakers, and also getting slapped for having the speakers up to loud trying to hear footsteps when playing cs *Laugh :laugh: So its time to get a headset w/ mic. So what headsets are durable and sound good? Ive broken about 4 headsets by dropping or standing on them but this time i will be more careful. So just find the cheapest of eBay? What ones do you all have?

 

Laptop won't detect built-in mic on headsets/earbuds

I'm running Windows 10 home on a Lenovo Ideapad laptop, and it doesn't detect the mic on any of my headsets/earbuds. I can hear playback fine on my headsets/earbuds, but it can't speak through them, since it insists on using the laptop's internal mic. This results in my typing/mouse clicks all being captured on audio.

• In sound properties recording tab, I just see "microphone (Realtek high def audio)" and "stereo mix (Realtek high def audio)"
  
• In sound properties playback tab, I just see "speakers (Realtek high def audio)", yet I hear audio fine on my headsets/earbuds?
  
• In device manager, it doesn't detect a headset either, displays the same list as the recording tab

So do all 3 of my headsets/earbuds have some kind of "plug and play but stays invisible to the OS" feature? One of them is the default Apple earbuds, I'm 100% sure there's a mic on there and these are brand new, so they aren't broken. Are these not supposed to appear as a "headset" device with the headset icon in sound properties?

 

Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue
