Windows 10: Headset Mic Keeps turning off or being glitched

About 2 weeks ago my headset had an issue where the audio was too low and i had to put my mic in my mouth for it to hear me. I found a solution but it happened about a week later and the solution didn't fix it. Now it's happening a third time but this time it isn't recognizing me at all. The first two times i suspected that it was something with the Oculus mic, I disabled it so it wouldn't happen again and while I did use my Oculus again I'm pretty sure but not 100% that I was able to talk to friends after using my Oculus. What is the brand/model of the headset mic combo?

What front panel audio jack(s) do you have? Some are only mic or only headset, some can be either mic or headset whichever is plugged in and some are combination headset/mic.

PCs are normally separate Headphone and Mic sockets.
Laptops a Combo socket (TRRS).

Headsets usually come with adapters to cater for both scenarios.

My headset has a Combo plug (TRRS), and an adapter for separate Headphones and Mic sockets.

You can plug the Headset Combo plug in to a Headphone only socket, but the Mic won't work. there is no second R contact.

 

Headset with mic isn't working

Hello,

My computer system uses Realtek HIgh Definition Audio software for speakers and sound. I am not having trouble getting sound out of my computer's speakers. However, my headset with mic is not working.

I cannot figure out how to fix this because I still get the two notifications (one for headphones and the other for mic) when I plug it into the jacks.

During my researching on this issue, it seems like a common problem. Yet, none of the solutions from articles and YouTube videos have worked.

• Is there a software glitch between Windows 10 and Realtek software?
• Is there a software glitch between Windows 10's sound and audio settings and the teaching software I am using for work?
• *Can Microsoft tech support access my computer to fix this problem?

I am quite tech savvy but this has me beat - I have been at this for two days. I need Windows 10 to work to connect to my headset with mic attached when presenting in the teaching software for work.

Any assistance will be great appreciated.
