  1. Headset Mic not displayed in Sound: Recording!

Hi, this may be confusing at first, but I will try my best to explain. I have been dealing with my mic volume being low on my laptop ASUS ROG STRIX 17.3” Gaming Laptop I went out and decided to buy a pair of headsets Onikuma K9 I plugged the headsets in and the mic will not work. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING. I checked for updates, I uninstalled the driver which fixed my regular mics on my main laptop?! and reinstalled but I want to use my headset's mic and not the ones that are built-in. I have gone to the sound category in the control panel and they just don’t show in the recording when plugged in yes, I have show disabled and disconnected mics on. I have gone through windows setting for privacy and devices and nothing. I have watched through so many videos online just looking for help and right when a forum gets close to figuring it out it just stops!! I am now to the point were every forum and video is telling me what I have already done, I need help! For more context, I have plugged them into my phone and the mic does work, I am also using Realtek audio driver but when I uninstalled it, I used high def and it still would not work with that installed. I honestly have no idea what else to do and hoping that someone knows what is going on.

    :)

    Laptop won't detect built-in mic on headsets/earbuds

I'm running Windows 10 home on a Lenovo Ideapad laptop, and it doesn't detect the mic on any of my headsets/earbuds. I can hear playback fine on my headsets/earbuds, but it can't speak through them, since it insists on using the laptop's internal mic. This results in my typing/mouse clicks all being captured on audio.

    • In sound properties recording tab, I just see "microphone (Realtek high def audio)" and "stereo mix (Realtek high def audio)"
    • In sound properties playback tab, I just see "speakers (Realtek high def audio)", yet I hear audio fine on my headsets/earbuds?
    • In device manager, it doesn't detect a headset either, displays the same list as the recording tab
So do all 3 of my headsets/earbuds have some kind of "plug and play but stays invisible to the OS" feature? One of them is the default Apple earbuds, I'm 100% sure there's a mic on there and these are brand new, so they aren't broken. Are these not supposed to appear as a "headset" device with the headset icon in sound properties?

  3. Headset mic not working

    Hi,

Thanks for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

This might occur when some of the mic setting got corrupted.

I would suggest you to try running Recording audio troubleshooter.

    Follow the below steps:

    • Type Troubleshooting in the Search area on the taskbar and select
      Troubleshooting.

    • Select Hardware and Sound.

    • Select Recording Audio under
      Sound
      and follow the on screen.

Hope it helps, reply to us with the status of your issue. We will be happy to assist you.

    Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue Headset Mic not displayed in Sound: Recording! :p
