Windows 10: Headset mic "not plugged in". Tried solutions found in other answers, no luck.

I am using a Y adapter to combine my mic and headphones into a single jack. Note that this exact configuration HAS worked on this computer in the past, but for a while now, it does not recognize my microphone when I plug the adapter in. However, this adapter works fine on another laptop every time I plug it in, so I don't suspect a problem with the mic itself or the adapter.I've tried the sound troubleshooter, but it states that the mic is not plugged in and can't progress further than that.I've tried uninstalling the driver but still no mic when it reinstalls.I've run out of things to try, sh

• Have you tried using other headsets with mic on your computer and check if it's working fine?
• Have you also tried to insert or use that headset with mic that came with your computer to other computers or devices? This will help us isolate the issue if it's related to your Windows 10 PC or to the headset with mic.

• Did you already try to plugged the headset into another port which indicating the mic and headset icon?
• When did the issue first occur?
• Did you already try to use another headset to other devices and check if you are encountering the same issue?

How odd. I tried using both ports for the mic and headset before and it still said the mic wasn't plugged in, but now it does and the mic is working. I'm not sure what changed overnight, but it would appear the problem is fixed. Sorry to waste your time.
