Windows 10: Headset Mic turn on randomly after update

Hi, i have an issue with windows 11 24h2 update, after upgrading to it the headset mic keeps turning on by itself randomly and i noticed it umute itself when i open youtube or videos or music, generally anything that has sound, and i installed 24h2 3 times to make sure that the problem from windows, and i installed 23h2 the version i was using before and there was no problem and even installed windows 10 22h2 and there was no problem, the issue happened only on the 24h2 and i saw other people with other headsets complaining from the same issue too, also when i check listen to this device from

What is the brand/model of the headset mic combo?

What front panel audio jack(s) do you have? Some are only mic or only headset, some can be either mic or headset whichever is plugged in and some are combination headset/mic.

Depends on the specs of your hardware, you have not given enough detail.

PCs are normally separate Headphone and Mic sockets.
Laptops a Combo socket (TRRS).

Headsets usually come with adapters to cater for both scenarios.

My headset has a Combo plug (TRRS), and an adapter for separate Headphones and Mic sockets.

You can plug the Headset Combo plug in to a Headphone only socket, but the Mic won't work. there is no second R contact.

Here is not happening what you've described. When a headset is plugged in/out, won't affect settings.

...as you can see, there are two mic devices, the first is for headset/external and the second for internal.

Here, there's a laptop with a Realtek on board audio card, with Windows native driver installed, although Windows suggested/downloaded a specific Realtek driver which I don't prefer for some reasons.

Have you ever try to remove all existing audio drivers (with no internet connection) and then, let Windows install (if exists in its library) a native one?
If so, see what happens, then connect to internet and let again Windows to install whatever (if so).

If Windows, after internet connection, installs another driver, you may toggle between those drivers (native and net installed) to see if that helps. Finally, select the proper driver, without uninstall/remove the other one(s).

Of course, you may skip above steps and try directly toggling between existing (if so) drivers:

I've just tested, installing the Realtek driver Windows suggested/downloaded and the two mic devices turned into one (same for internal and external) :



and still headset/external plugged-in/out, cannot affect settings.
