Windows 10: Headset microphone not registering, headset is not recognised and the only audio device is...

I've had my laptop for 6 months now and no matter what I do I can't seem to get my headset microphone working. The headset HyperX cloud ii wired headset itself functions fine, with the output coming through the headphones at an appropriate volume, but the microphone attached to it will not work, instead the laptop defaults to the inbuilt laptop microphone, which is terrible quality. The laptop is a Gigabyte G6 MF 2024 and this is the only issue I've encountered with it so far, and it seems to be completely unsolvable, no matter what solution I find on the internet. Computer Not Using and or Not recognizing Headset Microphone

Recently I got a gaming headset but upon plugging in the headset my microphone jack, I realized my computer was not picking up audio from the headset mic. I have looked through other forums but I still cannot find a solution to this problem. I have looked at the sound settings and saw that under the recording category, It shows a second microphone device that is only accessible by plugging in my headset. But when doing so I've noticed that when talking into my headset mic the recordings menu does not show any signs of sound. But if I tap my headset the sound meter goes up. This makes me think that my computer only picks up sounds around the headset and not the mic itself.

Other Info
1) For my sounds, video and game controllers in the Device Manager I have High Definition Audio Device and Intel(R) Display Audio listed.
2) I have a windows 7 upgraded to windows 10

 

Cortana will not recognise my USB headset as an audio input device

Even though your headset appears to be working in some apps, it sounds like the Windows 10 equivalent drivers are not allowing the proper drivers to install and take precedent causing Cortana to not recognize said headset.

Lets start with the following steps to correct this:

1. To ensure changes to the driver do not occur without your knowledge, open the Control Panel (right-click Start button and select Control Panel)
   
2. Navigate to System and Security > System > Advanced system settings
   
3. Click Hardware tab > Device Installation Settings and select No, let me choose what to do option
   
4. Select Never install driver software from Windows Update
   
5. Press the Windows key‌ Windows logo key+X and choose Device Manager.
   
6. In Device Manager, navigate to Sound, video and game controllers
   
7. Right click on the audio /microphone driver currently installed matching said headset and choose uninstall
   
8. Ensure the delete the driver software for this device is checked
   
9. Download and install the latest drivers for said headset
   
10. Reboot the device
    
11. Ensure the new drivers are installed and test Cortana ability to recognize the headset

• What kind of other devices did you test your headset and microphone on? Specifically, did you test it with other laptops, desktop computers, or mobile devices?
• Since your microphone is connected to your headset, does your headset have only one audio jack or does it have two separate jacks, one for audio and one for the microphone?
• What type of audio port is on your laptop? Some laptops only support headsets, as evidenced by a headset icon (without a microphone) near the audio port. Older devices usually have separate ports in pink and green for audio and microphone. Newer devices
  have hybrid ports, which have both the headset and microphone icons near it.
