Windows 10: Headset microphone overrides default laptop microphone

My laptop has a built in microphone inside of it. Whenever I plug my headset in, it overrides it. There's no separate options for my headset or laptop mic, it has only one. I've tried reinstalling my audio driver, and it reinstalled an OLDER version of it. This isn't a problem on my other laptop, as it's able to separate my headset mic and built in laptop mic. I've exhausted most of my options relating to tweaking settings in the sound panel, and the new realtek audio manager now called realtek audio console has NO configuration settings at all. I recently bought a new headset with a microphone and I can hear audio through the headset but
my mic is not detected and it is still using my default Realtek computer microphone.

I've tried looking for hidden microphones but there are none.
I've re-installed my Realtek HD Audio driver.

But nothing seems to work.

What should I do to fix this?

I want to use the microphone attached to the headset as I just bought the headset but my laptop is still using the built-in mic and the headset mic is not detected.

 

Apple Headset/Microphone not working

Windows 10, have 3 Apple headsets. I can hear audio just fine but the microphone isn't recognized at all. I tried this on multiple laptops and while the audio is fine, I cannot get the microphones to work. It's the Apple wired earbuds. Windows isn't even recognizing that the microphone is there, it keeps defaulting to Realtek microphone on the laptop. I can't find drivers for this headset. I even spent three hours with Apple trying to troubleshoot and they FedEx'd me three brand new headsets. Well seems the issue persists even on the three new items. Any ideas. Even my IT guys at work can't figure out how to fix it.
