Windows 10: Headset misrecognized as headphones troubleshooting

I powered down my work PC, a Dell XPS 8700, moved it, powered on -- and for some reason all updates had been wiped back to factory from Windows and any new device drivers had to be redownloaded.

Once I finished doing that, 99% automatically, my headset was recognized as a pair of headphones (ie, no microphone). I reinstalled, re-did manually from manufacturer, and still nothing. On my other PC laptop, it is still a headset.

In Device Manager, there is only one entry for my headset in "Sound, Video and game controllers," but there are 2 on my laptop. In "Audio inputs and outputs," it jut says Speakers (3- headphones).

On my desktop PC, the drivers for the headset are very different from the laptop, with laptop 7 and the desktop 6. I don't know if its possible to just copy these drivers across devices?

The headset is SteelSeries Siberia 840, I use them for Zoom, recording audio, and other work (i teach online). I briefly tried them for Discord/gaming and they've never worked for that. The manufacturer discontinued them and support there is nil. They worked fine until this PC move. Any insight appreciated. Hoping to fix before school starts back up.

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue

 

Computer Cant Find Me Headphones Mic!
