Windows 10: Headset only works if plugged into mic and headset ports. never used to till accidentally...

A couple months ago I got VR and misunderstood some audio problems and uninstalled a driver after following the websites recommendation, it says that when i search to update drivers it should reinstall but it doesn't i think this is the problem. I got this computer new right before i got oculus, i could plug my headset into the headset port and it would also act as the microphone but after i uninstalled a driver it wont register any headsets i try as a headset and mic. long story short; My headset only receives audio from the computer but there is no option for it to pick up my v

• Did you already try to plugged the headset into another port which indicating the mic and headset icon?
• When did the issue first occur?
• Did you already try to use another headset to other devices and check if you are encountering the same issue?

What is the brand/model of the headset mic combo?

What front panel audio jack(s) do you have? Some are only mic or only headset, some can be either mic or headset whichever is plugged in and some are combination headset/mic.

How odd. I tried using both ports for the mic and headset before and it still said the mic wasn't plugged in, but now it does and the mic is working. I'm not sure what changed overnight, but it would appear the problem is fixed. Sorry to waste your time.
