Headsets only playing audio from left side but works just fine on other computers/devices.

As the subject says, I've been having issues with headsets only playing audio from the left side. I bought a new headset earlier this week to test if it was just my old one going bad, but the new one also only plays from one side. In addition, my brother is able to hear just fine through both sides of my old one, further showing that it is not the issue.

    Steps I've already taken:

    1. Turning my computer off and on again both restarting and turning completely off and on

    2. Updating all audio drivers

    3. Checking for updates via Windows Updater

    4. Everything from this article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/fix-sound-problems-in-windows-10-73025246-b61c-40fb-671a-2535c7cd56c8#v1h=tab01

    5. Checking that "Enable mono audio" was turned off in accessibility

    6. Checking audio balance via sound settings

    7. Vacuuming out the audio jack

    8. Adjusting audio output volume and quality both in the Sound Settings and in the Realtek Audio Manager

Any help would be much appreciated! This has been going on for some time and has been really annoying.

    :)

Headset microphone (with audio splitter) not working

My Acer Predator (Helios 300) laptop has a singular audio port, which I use with my headset that has a separate microphone and headphone cable. I have used an audio splitter to get around this issue for a while now, and it has worked perfectly fine. Normally
when I would plug the splitter in, a prompt would appear asking what type of device was just plugged in, options were headphones, speakers, microphone, headset, and one or two other options that I don't remember because I never used them. I would select "headset"
and it would work just fine. Recently, something changed. This prompt no longer appears, and my computer no longer acknowledges the microphone on my headset, instead using the default internal microphone. The headphones still play audio like normal, but I
have found no way to get the microphone working.

If I just plug the microphone chord into the audio jack, it still does not work, and the computer refuses to play audio.

    So far I have tried:

    • Uninstalling and re-installing the audio drivers (multiple times)
    • Updating windows
    • Running the audio troubleshooters (Both for playing audio and recording)
    • Checking for updates to Dolby
    • Scanning for hardware changes in device manager
    • Disabling the default microphone
None of these have done anything.

I'm really at a loss here. I consider myself pretty computer savvy but nothing I've tried has gotten me anywhere.

Headset not working as both mic and headset

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    • Did you try the headset on a different Windows machine?
    • Did you try using a different headset on the PC in question?
    • Did you notice any changes on the computer prior to experiencing this issue?

As you have tried all the basic troubleshooting steps, it is possible that the issue lies with the hardware (headset or the port). However, I would suggest to try the following methods and let us know if it works.

    Method 1: Run inbuilt troubleshooter

    Go to Settings->Update & Security->Troubleshoot->Playing Audio->headphone Earphone.

    Follow the onscreen

    Method 2: Remove ghost drivers

    • Right click on Start button (Windows logo) and select Deice Manager.
    • Click on the View menu at the top left corner of the device manger window and select Show hidden devices.
    • Expand the Audio inputs and outputs section and remove all entries in it by right clicking and selecting Uninstall device.
    • Expand Sound, video and game controllers and remove all items by right clicking on each item and selecting uninstall device.
    • Reboot the computer to let Windows reinstall the device drivers.

Method 3: Enable the playback device and make it default.

    • Right click on the volume icon at the bottom right corner of the screen and select
      Sounds.
    • Select the Playback tab. Right click on the empty space and select
      Show Disabled Devices.
    • Go to the Recording tab, select Stereo Mix (Realtek High Definition Audio), right click on it and select
Set as Default Device and click Ok.
    • Go back to the Recording tab and set the Headset as your default recording and playback device and click
      Ok.

Additionally, I would suggest to refer to the article below and see if it helps.

Windows 10 – Audio Troubleshooting Tips

If the above methods do not work, I would suggest to get the hardware (both headset and the audio ports) checked.

Headset mike not recognized - can't open Audio Manager

You could try going into settings and running the 'Troubleshooter'. Although this might not work as I think it may be a software/driver issue.

Ah okay. I have had a look at the manufacture Nubwo, and there doesn't seem to be any official drivers or software listed.

Thus I would suggest we try and uninstall everything related to the headset, and then let everything install automatically, as it had done on the other desktop (assuming everything was automatically configured, and it just worked).

1.) See if you can first remove the Realtek Audio Manager 1.0.0.222 software by uninstalling it.
    • Settings > Apps > Click on the app and select 'Uninstall.'

2.) After that right click on Start menu (*Start) and select 'Device Manager'
    • Under the 'View' tab, select 'Show hidden devices'
    • Then click on the arrow before 'Sound, video and game controllers' as well as 'Audio inputs and outputs' (this should drop down to reveal a list of audio drivers and headsets)
    • I can help you with which driver (in relation to your headset) to uninstall, if you post back with a screenshot.

Optional.) Or if you are comfortable with knowing which driver to uninstall, then do so
    • Right click on the driver name > Uninstall (Check 'delete software for this device'). Perform a restart and plug the headset back in.
