Windows 10: HEIC files thumbnails loads slowly in File Explorer

HEIC file thumbnails load slowly. Every time I open a folder, they pop up sequentially and often times this takes a while and can be frustrating when trying to move quickly through folders. I work around this by changing the folders setting to details only. The drawback is I have to guess where the photo I want to view is located within the folder and click around the image viewer until I have it. This is not a problem with jpeg files. They seem to pop up thumbnails instantly.Is there a way to correct this issue?I prefer the HEIC format as it has high image quality and great compression. It sa

Hi, have you done any research on this? A general search for

But there are so many factors: how large a file is each image: where are the files located: what is the speed of access to that location: what else is the PC doing at the same time..... (check your task manager).

File explorer slow with loading thumnails and files

Step by step guide:
1. Hold Win+r to open run
2. Type msconfig and hit ok or enter
3. Click Services
4. Navigate to Windows search (you can sort the list in descending alphabetical order)
5. Uncheck tickbox
6. Click apply then ok
7. Select to restart now

Preview Pane for HEIC files in File Explorer?

While Windows 10 will open HEIC files, once you have installed the plugin, Windows 10 cannot preview HEIC files in File Explorer, hopefully Microsoft ill add this as support for the HEIC format in Windows 10 becomes mainstream . . .
