Windows 10: HEIC pictures are not loading and can not be opened on PC onedrive

Hello i am here with major issue,Few days ago i had photoshoot to take some great pictures. My friend then sent me those via Imessages and they automatically uploaded thmeselves on OneDrive. Those pictures when i view them on mobile in OneDrive i can normally see and do whatever i want. However when i try to view them on OneDrive with my PC which has Windows 10, i cant open any of these and it just shows grey image that it cant be loaded. The pictures are in HEIC format and also my friend "edited" some pictures to make them look better and they are still in HEIC format but only those i can vie

It should work, it does for me. Try Fabler2's suggestion in post #6 and reset the app.

You could also see if you can open known good sample .heic pictures, like the sample1.heic seen above that I got from here:

How to view Apple's .HEIC pictures

Tried resetting (twice). It did not work.

I also tried uninstalling (so that I could reinstall). But that doesn't work.

saple1.heic did not work either.




I'm trying to avoid installing Irfan or the other suggestions. I may end up liking that. But I don't need any high end image applications and I don't want too much clutter. As it stands, systems nowadays already have multiple applications which try to vie for each file type and I want to stick to one or the other, preferably the defaults. But it looks like I may have to do so.
