Windows 10: HEIF Image Extensions Not working on my devices

Hello,I am working with a client for my MSP. They said that they were unable to open .HEIC files. I worked on getting the Microsoft codec installed on their system, but after the install I couldn't get anything to work. I then attempted on my own machine and encountered the same thing.I have been looking left and right for a solution. I've already gone through and tried the "reset" option listed under the Windows settings. None of that is working. I can see from the store reviews this seems to be the case for a lot of users. It also seems to be hit or miss. Some co-workers of mine are using it

High Efficiency Image File (HEIF) format is used for photos to keep down file sizes. It can also use the codes like HEVC to significantly improve file compression, while providing a netter image quality. I would request you to install the codecs:

HEIF Image Extensions and

HEVC Video Extensions from Device Manufacturer.



If you are having issues installing like you mentioned query, I would suggestion you to follow the troubleshooting steps provided here:

Fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store.

Would it be possible to install HEIF image extensions without internet? Can we download the app first from internet and then install it in other computer? Thanks a lot.

Heif Image Extension

Actually, I had not downloaded the hevc video extension, just the heif image extension. I later read that both were needed to view heic photos, but I was able to view them with just the heif extension until today. Not sure what the issue is. I am reluctant
to try the video extension because I read a lot of very negative reviews apart from the fact that they charge a nominal fee. I'll check out copytrans. Thanks again.
