I suggest you follow the steps and check if it helps.

  Right click on the speaker icon.
  
• 
  Select playback devices option.
  
• 
  Now select the speaker as default.
  
• 
  Now go to recording devices option and select the microphone as default and click on apply.

Audio jack recognizes microphone a speaker

hello, I just got a microphone that has an audio cable and when I plugged it in it says it is a speaker

Please help!

 

No microphone or speakers

I have a HP envy-x2 which was updated to windows 10 last year. I thought all was fine till I had a skype session in December when I found the microphone didn't work. I could hear fine.

I checked settings and updated drivers

In device manager under "sound video and game controller" I uninstalled the device and deleted the driver software and rebooted.

I now have a red x on the speaker icon in the task bar and no audio devices installed.

When I right click on the speaker icon no audio devices show in the playback or recording windows

Now in device manager under "sound video and game controllers" I have "Realtek12s audio codec" showing but still no microphone or speakers working

Can anyone help?
