Windows 10: Hello, I am trying to use my pc as a file host for me and a friend who lives across the country

Hello, I am trying to use my pc as a host for files we wish to share back and forth without paying for a platform like Onedrive.

I have plenty of storage on my PC I just can't find how to share a folder with someone on an external network where we both have access. I would like to do it similar to how many businesses have it set up. If anyone knows how to do this or has done it themselves tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hosts file editing

I have to jump in and say I use, and have used the host file for years. It's an easy way to take stress off of old name servers. I don't add everything, but major shares I do add to the host file. I've used the host file for some tunneling as well. I try to optimize my network as much as possible and I have a solid network. But Easy Rhino is right as well, you'll want to have everything he suggested as well. *Toast :toast:

 

Marketplace complaining about country, no change to Live profile

A friend of mine all of a sudden is no longer able to access Marketplace or download apps. She gets the error "Marketplace is not available in your country/region". But she has not modifed the country in her profile at all, and in fact when I checked
her Live profile it still lists her country as US. It's very frustrating, anyone have any suggestions? Have tried calling ATT to no avail.

I would suggest you to make sure if information on your friend account is correct and if the country is still set up to US going to
www.zune.net. There you need to sign in with the same Windows Live ID which your friend is using on the phone and go to the My Account to check all details. Can you make sure that your friend is using correct
Windows Live ID when signing in to Marketplace?
