Windows 10: Hello, I am unable to login on to my computer physical and onscreen keyboard only type numbers.

Hello, I am unable to login on to my computer. All of the sudden my physical as well as the onscreen keyboard don't work. I've shut down, unplugged computer, pusher power button for 2 minutes, waited another 4 min, plugged cable back in , restarted turned off filters, turned off numbers lock and still nada, no keyboard physical or onscreen. Please advise.

I have a Dell Latitude 7220 tablet using Windows 10. The device is currently in tablet mode and the onscreen keyboard will not deploy. The keyboard icon is visible in the bottom right hand corner, but nothing happens when you click on it. I have gone in the keyboard settings and checked use your device without a physical keyboard--Use on screen keyboard. In addition, the box under ease of access-keyboard-use onscreen keyboard is also checked.

A floating keyboard is available with the win+ctrl+0 keys, but I am wondering why I cannot have the icon or have an auto pop-up when typing is available. Any suggestions would be wonderful.

From the description provided, I understand that the Onscreen keyboard freeze/crashes to restsrt again by itself after upgrading to Windows 10.

To be able to help you better, kindly provided us few more details on the below questions.

1. Do you receive any error message when the on-screen keyboard crashes?

2. Do you observe the similar issue when logged into the computer using a different user Account?

This issue may happen due to system file corruption. I suggest you to run System file checker. System File checker (SFC) scan is done to check if there are any corrupted system files that could be causing this issue. Kindly follow
the below given steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + X, select
  Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated Command prompt.
  
• 
  In Command prompt type
  sfc/scannow and press enter.
  
• Restart the computer.

If no corrupted system files were found in the previous state, then I suggest you to try the following steps:

• 
  Open command prompt by pressing Windows key + X and selecting “Command prompt admin”.
  
• 
  In command prompt, type the following commands and press Enter after each command:
  
  DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
  
  DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
  

• 
  Close the command prompt and restart the PC and check if it works.

• Do you get any error message when you try to login?
• Did you try to login using Onscreen keyboard?

Initially, try to login your system using Onscreen keyboard and check if this helps.

On your login screen, click on Ease of access (bottom right corner of the screen) and select
Onscreen keyboard.

Type your password and check if you are able to access.

Also, make sure NumLock key is not turned OFF on your keyboard.

If you still unable to login, then try with the below steps.

• Restart your PC. When you reach the sign-in screen, hold the
  Shift key and select the Power button, and then select
  Restart.
• 
  After your PC restarts, select
  Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore.
  
• 
  Select the restore point created prior to this problem and follow the on-screen instructions to restore your PC to earlier point of time.
  
• 
  Now try to boot your PC into normal mode and see if it works.
