Windows 10: hello. i cant open a file when moved to a different folder

File cannot be opened after moving it to a different folder

I download the email attachments standard to the My Documents folder. Then I move it to a local folder. Files that are already in that folder do not have the problem. It really only happens with files that I received AFTER moving them to another local folder.

BUT: after moving the file back to the original location (My Documents), the file opens normally.

No troubleshooting done as I don't know what troubleshooting options are available for this.

If the file would be corrupted on its way to my computer why can it be opened in the my documents folder? Or if the folder where I moved the file received to would be corrupted, why is there only a problem with the file just moved to that folder?

The file can be corrupted upon transferring that's why you're getting an error or the folder where you transferred the file might be also corrupted. However, we need to gather more information for us to provide the best solution for you. Kindly answer the
following questions:

• Where are you trying to transfer the file? (E.g. Flash drive, external hard drive)
• Is this also happening on other files in the folder where you transferred the Excel file?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

Adobe Files moved from download folder to another folder cannot open

Hi Ghot,

Many thanks for your helpful suggestion using PDF reader Sumatra instead of Adobe.
It Worked for a short term fix - IE to move pdf files to different folder & then be able to open & save them with different name.

Normally I use / pay for Adobe Acrobat Pro DC for pdf everything - but in this case I can't understand WHY I can't move a pdf file from download folder to C drive folder without the file becoming unusable -IE open or save to different name.
I am not sure if this is an Adobe problem OR File explorer problem? hmmmm any ideas.

But for today the short fix - your recommendation of Sumatra PDF reader does everything I need..
