Physical keyboard driver of HTC 7 Pro

    Hi there!

OK, as you probably know, there are three first generation Windows Phone 7s which are equipped with the physical QWERTY keyboard: LG Quantum (US and Canadian versions), Dell Venue Pro (US and German versions) and HTC 7 Pro (US and German versions). German version
doesn't have QWERTY, it has QWERTZ instead. So U and Z have been swapped.

OK, the keyboard layout of Dell Venue Pro can be altered in the diagnostics. There you can choose whether you'd like to have an English or a German physical keyboard layout regardless what is the keyboard layout for the touch screen (a.k.a. digitizer).

But with HTC 7 Pro it's not possible to alter physical keyboard layouts without flashing a new physical keyboard driver to the phone (so I've understood). So you can change the touch screen (digitizer) keyboard to English but the layout of the physical keyboard
won't change, it's still German QWERTZ.

I've contacted HTC regarding this problem but they told me to contact Microsoft because the software/driver is coming from them (that's what they told). So my question is: where can I find this software/driver to change QWERTZ to QWERTY???

Keyboard layout keep changing to American QWERTY

My keyboard has a German layout. That's how it should be. Windows however keeps changing, since I reset my PC, the layout to American QWERTY instead of the standard German QWERTZ layout. I set Windows up knowing that I want to use the German layout. It's
the only layout registered on this PC. I know I've been using the English language pack but that shouldn't affect the keyboard since I used it before my reset too and I had no problems there.

I also tried left-alt + left-shift but that changes nothing (probably because I only have one keyboard layout)

Any ideas on how I may fix this?

Physical keyboard driver of HTC 7 Pro

HI I'm sorry in advance if neither of these 2 methods work for you, but if you've tried everything else it can't hurt to try - right?!

Open the App Drawer, look for Settings, then follow:

    • Language & Input > Keyboard & Input Methods > Android Keyboard (AOSP) Settings > Input Languages
    • In this list check-mark for English (and whatever other languages you require)
The only other way i know is to use a third-party keyboard application. I can recommend using MultiLing from Google Play for a number of reasons..........

    • You can customize everything from the keyboard language and layout and the look of the keyboard to sound effects and emoticons,
    • It has a very comprehensive list of languages with the auto-completion dictionaries,
    • It is absolutely FREE !!!
Once you install the keyboard, follow these steps to add languages (Actually the app will present you with a convenient step-by step set-up wizard when you first run it):

    • Settings (not your Android settings, the MultiLing keyboard settings - there is a key for that on the keyboard - this will open a pop-up) > Languages > tick the languages you want
    • To install the auto-completion dictionaries, go to "Install Dictionaries" on the same screen. This will open developer's website with links to download dictionaries from Google Play.
    To change the keyboard layouts:

    • Settings > Keyboard Settings > Themes, Sizes and Layouts ? ABC Layouts > select the layout you want.
    • Press Back several times to go back to the Input screen and you are good to go!!
    SWITCHING LAYOUTS

If you want to use QWERTY with English or AZERTY with French or QWERTZ with German etc., there are two ways then to achieve this:

    • Changing the MultiLing Keyboard settings where you have English and German set up - following the steps above (total of around 7 taps or 5 - 10 seconds)
    • Using the stock Android keyboard with English language and QWERTZ layout, and the MultiLing with English Language and the keyboard of your choice - in your case QWERTY. In this case keyboard is done through the notifications screen (as far as i can remember).
    • You should already have installed the appropriate auto-completion Dictionary but if not go back and complete the settings to do so now!
I really hope that some of this information is useful to you!!

    Kind regards
