Windows 10: Hello sign in problem

I have an HP Envy running Windows 10. I was able to sign in using my password or fingerprint. but not a PIN.Settings seemed to think there was a PIN set, but I didn't know what it was so I clicked on I forgot my PIN and created a new one. After rebooting I found I was only able to sign-in using my password. There was no option for fingerprint. and selecting PIN threw an error message.


I went back into Settings and noticed that it includes the text Windows Hello is preventing some options from being displayed. I re-saved my fingerprint but that made no difference. I tried to change the PIN and it accepts my existing PIN then allows me to create a new one, so the PIN is accepted.


Google came up with a suggestion to enter in a key AllowDomainPINLogon inHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System but that made no difference.


How do I fix this?

  Type Setting in the search area on the taskbar and select

• Follow the steps from the wizard to run the troubleshooter.
