    In looking at this I wonder if Windows has installed a driver that it thinks will meet the needs.

    I see this driver in HP.

    USB mouse and trackpad stopped working after Windows 7 update

    I have 2 HP/Compaq 6910p laptops with Windows 7 installed. A recent update to Windows caused the wired USB mice to stop working as well as the trackpads on both machines. Does anyone know anything about this?

    If HP does not support or supply Windows 7 drivers for your exact model number laptop preinstalled with Windows 10, you are wasting your time and money buying Windows 7 to install on that laptop.
