Windows 10: help.... about deleting adobe flash player

I want to know if I can safely delete my adobe flash player.... and wondering if deleting that will disable me to watch videos in various websites not just in youtube

Windows 10 Version 1709 Firefox is the Browser,Adobe flash player is updated.Do you think if I delete Adobe and reinstall would help?

After the upgrade from Windows 7 Professional to Windows 10, Adobe Flash player inside Edge doesn't work.

The Adobe Flash player button is enabled, but on the web site of Adobe, during the Flash Player Test, it says "Not enabled"

Any information about this problems ?

Actually, you can watch YouTube without Flash installed. YouTube supports HTML5 and will use it in preference to Flash if your browser supports it. Check if yours does here...

Many sites are moving to support HTML5 (none of Flash's security issues) with a few notable exceptions. The BBC iPlayer is one that still requires Flash.

TMAVLSS, the OP's KTS vulnerability scan shows that the OP has 2 outdated, vulnerable programs installed: an older version of Flash Player 23 NPAPI for Firefox (dating back to September) and an older version of Shockwave (dating back to August). That is why they are turning up on the KTS vulnerability scan.

I've tried to explain how each browser/class of browsers uses a different version of Flash, and how to uninstall the outdated versions of these plug-ins, so that they will no longer pose a security risk and so that they will no longer be detected by the KTS vulnerability scan. *Sad

As the OP previously stated HERE that he uses only IE, Edge and Chrome, he does not need to keep an outdated version of Flash Player for Firefox installed on the computer. The embedded versions of Flash Player in those other browsers (IE, Edge, Chrome) will still work just fine and should be unaffected, even if the "Firefox" version of Flash Player is removed.

Having said that, the next step, after uninstalling the older outdated versions of the 2 programs would be to install the current versions thereof, IF the OP wants/needs these applications, as was originally suggested in the other thread HERE.

As all my attempts to explain the process have failed, I will defer to others more facile in explaining these matters.*Smile

If I uninstall shockwave flash player what is going to be affected to my computer.... like watching videos, etc....

 

Most places have adopted HTML5, however not all are using this yet & so there will be some instances where you will not be able to play videos, games. etc without having the Flash player.

It solely depends on the website. If they have HTML5 in place, then you will not have a problem. If they are still using only Flash, then you would not be able to use the sites services (Videos, Games, Etc.). Unfortunately, that's what it boils down to, at least at this point.

I don't like the idea of having Flash on my OS, with a new vulnerability rearing it's head almost every month, but I keep it on as I know there are some sites that I would not be able to watch videos or play games. The only thing you can do if you want to keep the viewing/interaction option open on almost all sites is to keep Flash & make sure you keep it updated. Also, run regular malware scans with the malware scanner of your choice.

Or you can delete it & if you find a site that is solely Flash dependent, you'll need to move on to another site that supports HTML5.

I think you only use Edge, IE and Chrome???
For the record, Firefox allows the user to set Flash Player to be DISABLED BY DEFAULT (for safety) and then activated on a site-by-site basis ("Ask to activate") -- see screen shot.
I presume the other browsers, such as IE, Chrome and Edge, provide similar control over Flash Player (I do not know for sure, since I do not use those browsers).
Regarding keeping it updated (and getting back to your original issue in both this thread and his other one):
The version of Flash Player for Firefox (Flash Player 23 NPAPI) that was/is turning up on the KTS vulnerability scan may be fully UNinstalled and not replaced or updated, IF (as you previously mentioned) you does not use Firefox.
In other words, there is no need to have Flash Player for Firefox on the system if you do not use Firefox or related browsers.
(Flash Player for IE, Edge and Chrome should take care of auto-updating itself "automatically", if the system is properly configured.)
