    Hi everyone

I'm experiencing a problem with Windows update and can't find useful results in Google.
Don't know what version is actually present on the PC, and what is the version is going to install.

The problem is that the system, after first reboot, doesn't detect anymore my ADATA SSD Windows 10 UEFI boot option, but only the Legacy one, so it can't proceed with the update.

BIOS has always been set to "Windows 8/10" (= UEFI)
Motheboard is a random Gigabyte H110 chipset.

Tried to change boot menu pressing F12 at startup, but I can only see my SSD Legacy option, the other HDD and the DVD drive. Normally when it works I also see "ADATA Windows 10 UEFI" option.

Since it's the second time I try to make this massive update, and the result is the same (but last time I managed to recovery, don't know exactly how, with command prompt and bootsect from a USB key), I've created a recovery point in the system that can be useful to return in Windows 10's old version without problem (I wish).

Is there anything I can do BEFORE trying to install the update another time ?

Reboot and Select proper Boot device

Downloaded Windows 10 and started installing it. The install got to around 20% and now I'm stuck on a black screen with "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key". I have gone into BIOS and changed boot order around but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Can anyone help?

  3. Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device...after reboot?

Hello all. Getting a little frustrated here. A couple of weeks ago we had a user come in on a Monday morning to find that her pc was displaying the classic message "Reboot and select proper boot device...". Tried popping in a windows disk and fixing the MBR, no luck. Ended up reinstalling windows and her few programs back on it. All was good after this. For about a day. She came in the next day to find the same message. So at that point we decided that more than likely the drive was bad even though oddly enough it tested out fine. It was a Corsair 60gb SSD.

Last week we swapped that Corsair with a 64gb Crucial SSD and installed Windows. We then created a backup image of that drive. All was good until Thursday when her power strip that the PC was plugged into got tripped. Start up the computer for find "Reboot and select proper boot device..." message. So, apply the backed up image to the SSD since repairing the MBR didn't work.

Now this morning she comes in and the PC is running fine. Attempts to open Microsoft Word and she gets a pop-up stating there isn't enough disk space. So, she then restarts and upon booting back up gets "Reboot and select proper boot device..."

Any ideas what is causing this? Is it something with the mobo or do I just have horrible luck and replaced the bad SSD with another bad SSD?

HELP - After last update, Windows 10 reboots to black screen "Reboot and select proper boot...

Windows 10 black screen "Reboot and Select proper Boot Device..." when machine is idle.

I installed Windows 10 about 6 weeks ago. Worked great. Then, after logging on and using my ASUS CM6870, I began seeing a black screen with the following text "Reboot and Select proper Boot Device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot devise and press a
key." This only occurs after leaving the machine idle for some time!

    Suggestions appreciated.
