Hello,My Boot drive C: is a Western Digital Blue SN550 1 TB M.2 is losing storage over time. I am not adding any new files etc. However if i click properties on the drive it will be at 1 number, then I click it again a few seconds later and it will have lost around 10,000,000 bytes in storage. I do not know why. Sometimes if I restart my PC the storage is back again, but it said my storage was full yesterday and this is when I realised it was happening. I now have 476GB of storage left but it is going down all the time. It doesn't happen on my other drive which is a Western Digital Blue 1 TB

    :)

Storage Spaces Disappears After Replacing Boot Drive

Did you check Windows View update history list to see if KB4568831 has already been installed? I would think it has and that is why you got the message you did.

If you have not run the Storage Spaces troubleshooter there are instructions in the other link on do it manually. What is accomplished in either case is that your storage spaces will be set to read only which will allow you to have access to the data on your storage space drive.

The latter manual steps return the Storage Spaces drive to read/write and run optimization, defrag, and integrity routines. If your install is up to date then you should find the cumulative update KB4568831 installed in history. If you have upgraded to 20H2 then the patch discussed elsewhere to address the issue with Storage Spaces showing as RAW is rolled into the upgrade. In either case the manual optimization, defrag, and integrity routines can be run.

How to remove a bad drive in Windows 10 storage spaces pool

Could someone list the steps involved in replacing a bad drive from a Windows 10 storage spaces pool? I cannot find any info on the Microsoft support site that is specific to Windows 10. Also, could you list the steps to remove a 'good' drive and replace
it with another drive if the process is different?

Storage Spaces Disappears After Replacing Boot Drive

Well, I am attaching a links to MS support site for dealing with issues on Parity spaces. The first is an update issued on July 31, 2020, applies to Win 10 2004 and address an issue with in-memory parity bitmaps that can cause data integrity issues in Storage Spaces. Check to see if your Windows install has this update. If not I recommend that you install it.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...date-kb4568831

After the above update is verified or has been installed then refer to the link below for recovery steps for Storage Spaces cleanup. I would recommend that you follow the Manual steps that follow the troubleshooting outlined in this article. Working through PowerShell with Storage Spaces is far more effective than most other means. If these steps do not resolve the issue for you then short of adding more disks to the spaces I am out of recommendations here.
