Windows 10: Help connected printer with windows 10 laptop

Hi all, I just got my brand new laptop today, it is a HP AMD Athlon Silver running windows 10 and I am trying to get it connected to my printer because I have some very important documents that I need printed ASAP. The printer is a Canon PIXMA MG2522. Upon intial plug in, it recognizes the printer but says the driver unavailable. So after some research I found the suggestion to go to Canons website and find the software and driver to download. I have tried multiple times and every time when it gets to the part where it wants me to connect the printer to the laptop it says no printer can be detected. I am at my wits end. My old laptop never gave me these problems and I don’t know what to do from here.

Have you tried the suggestions on my initial post, in response to the original poster? If you haven't performed any troubleshooting yet, here are a couple of things you can try:

• Power off, and then power on your printer to restart it. Wait for a while for it to be fully ready.
• Check your printer connection. Check your printer and make sure that it’s connected to your PC network.

If the steps didn't help, you may go through this list of suggestions to fix printer connection in Windows 10.

• The name of the OEM + “contact information”
• The name of the OEM + “PC support”
