  1. Help connecting Brother MFC-8670DN to Windows 10

I have connected the Brother MFC-8670DN to the Windows 10 computer with a USB cable. Windows does not properly automatically recognize this printer. But I was able to connect it with a work around. I had an HP Laserject 1300 previously installed. I saw in the Brother documentation that the Brother MFC 8670DN emulates several printer modes, including HP PCL 5 or PCL 6. So by selecting the previously installed printer, which was no longer connected, selecting "Printer Properties" and then "Ports", I saw the BrotherMFC-8670DN on USB001. I checked that port, and then the printer worked fine.

    :)

  2. Scanner on Brother MFC-465CN refuses to run - printer works fine.

Trying to get the scanner on my Brother MFC-465CN to run, but having no luck at all.

Have tried all solutions listed on this thread (Redirecting) - but cannot get the scanner to work. Had no trouble getting the printer to work.

The Brother MFC-465CN machine is connected via USB cable to my computer. I am running Windows 10 Home - 64bit version 21H2.

    • I have tried installing numerous drivers, checking the scanner after each installation, without success
    • tried running setup programs normally, as well as in 'Compatibility mode' (compatible with Windows 7 - as well as running them as Admin.)
    • tried disabling my firewall
    • tried keeping the machine off & unplugged until just before driver was installed
Any new help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Brother MFC J6720DW listed with strange icon in Devices and Printers

I have reinstalled the drivers for my Brother MFC J6720DW and now the printer icon is listed in the unspecified category instead of the printer category. The printer is the "Device" icon to the right.

Right clicking on the icon shows the usual items for a printer (printing properties etc.), In addition it shows a "Browse Files" entry that lists the card reader of the printer.

To the left of the Brother printer icon there is another similar one that seems to be my USB card reader

installation of driver for wireless connection of Brother MFC-7860DW in Windows 11

    To the Microsoft community,

Does anyone know whether one can install the driver for wireLESS connection of the Brother MFC-7860DW device with Memory Integrity turned ON in Windows 10 or 11? To install the driver and software for USB connection of MFC-7860DW (one must choose either wired or wireless connection during the setup) onto my new PC with Windows 11, I had to turn OFF Memory Integrity due to incompatibility of the BrUsbSib.sys driver version 1.1.1.5 according to Windows. It appears that neither Microsoft nor Brother plans to release an updated BrUsbSib.sys driver compatible with Memory Integrity in Windows 10 or 11. The name of the BrUsbSib.sys driver suggests that it is used for USB connection, but I do not know whether that driver is also used for wireless connection. I would like to turn on Memory Integrity for enhanced security of the core processes of my PC, but cannot do so as long as the BrUsbSib.sys driver is installed. I am considering uninstalling the whole driver/software suite for USB connection of MFC-7860DW present in my PC, turning back on Memory Integrity, and then installing the driver/software suite for wireLESS connection of MFC-7860DW. The Brother website says that it has "support" for wireless connection of MFC-7860DW in Windows 11, but the driver/software suite for wireless connection of MFC-7860DW in Windows 10 or 11 recommended and offered by Brother was first released on January 16, 2013. so I am skeptical of Brother's statements.

    Thank you,

    TD
