Windows 10: [HELP] DWM High GPU Usage Even at Power-Saver Plan (No Transparency and Desktop Background,...

Hi all, I hope someone can help regarding Windows Desktop Manager's high GPU usage.

PC is a prebuild Asus Z240 AIO so I don't have any part customization:

I logged in and got a "Preparing your desktop" welcome greeting -- apparently, the PC got updated to version 2004. Upon getting into the desktop, it felt really sluggish and upon checking the Task Manager, DWM is mining bitcoin using a constant 30% of my GPU (see pic 1 & 2). This is at power-saver plan. At normal and high-perf, GPU usage reaches 50%.



What I did so far:

1. Restart
2. Disabled startup items (there's not much except for Flexnet license services). Restarted again.
3. Edited performance options (see pic 3). Removed transparencies, animations, etc.
4. Removed my desktop background image and set a solid color instead.
5. chkdsk c: /f
6. sfc /scannow (twice for good measure)
7. dism /online /cleanup image /restorehealth (twice again for good measure)
8. Switched to power saver plan to check if GPU usage would decrease --yes it did... from 50% to 30%.
9. Downloaded DDU and booted to safe mode -- removed NVIDIA drivers first (no restart after removal) then INTEL drivers (restart after remove)
10. Upon restarting, Windows redownloaded both INTEL and NVIDIA drivers from Windows Update and prompted for a restart

Hope someone can help me with the high GPU usage.



Or make the PC use the NVIDIA GPU instead, it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Desktop Window Manager High GPU Usage in Windows 10

Hey everyone,

i got the same Problem since two days. My PC configuration is a Gigabyte 2070 Super 8GB and a Ryzen 7 3700X and ive got every update from Windows and Geforce experience. I am wondering why Windows doesnt said anything to this Problem after seeing this thread
being 20 Pages Long. Does anybody tried These Solutions

First i thought the cause is Google Chrome because it made high gpu and Volt usage too but after an uninstall the Problem was still there.

Is there any Suggestion how to solve the Problem. If this link is working please tell me.

 

Desktop Window Manager High GPU Usage in Windows 10

Im having same issue whem im moving my cursor or any window it can use up to 35% of gpu ( dwm and csrss) even without gpu installed and the cpu usage goes up to 2%

But when im putting at nvidia 3d dwm to prefare maximum performance and restart my pc the desktop usage goes to 6% maximum but still in games that i had tested yet in the games csgo and apex legends the usage is about 5% when game running for both games
, cod mw was using 99% cpu , and 36% dwm with 0% game usage (so this game could be the issue of so high usage) will test later pubg and fortnite

For some reason when im closing tab gpu usage is spiking to 100% for milisec

Help microsoft!!! And other companies

When doing nothing all is at 0.1%

Without gpu 0-3d but when moving it has gpu 0 3d agian
