Windows 10: HELP: file path to "my documents" on MY COMPUTER! has changed to...

I've been having many problems with saving documents from MS Office to my pc.

Because I wanted to be sure that I had the documents safely on my PC, I've been saving them very consciously to "This computer->documents->etc."

But somehow, the saved documents were always incomplete, I was asked constantly about my Windows references when saving etc...


Today I discovered that the file path to "This Computer" for documents and for pictures had changed to the same path as the onedrive file path.


So when checking the file locations on all 'libraries', I found out, that all other folders, like Music, Videos, Downloads are where the are supposed to be i.e. C:\Users\triho\Music but for documents and pictures the folder location is somehow "C:\Users\triho\OneDrive\Documenten. And remenber, this is still under "This Computer" and NOT under the OneDrive location tree.


Now I understand why my files have been keeping getting lost but now to the solution.

When I right click the "documents" folder, go to properties and then to the 'location'-tab, there is the option to select "reset to default setting". When I click, the path changes to "C:\Users\triho\documents", which is good, but then when I apply, I get an error saying that it is impossible to move the documents folder, because there is already a folder with the same name, that can't be changed.


So how do I get my Windows to do what I Say in stead of doing stuff I didn't ask for and DON't want!?

what exactly do you need to decipher about that path line? also, what are you installing? perhaps i can help.

Yeah, I think you're right. I think the purpose of the echo command was to check if ~/bin was in the $PATH file. My problem is that I can't decipher the output and I don't know how to add ~/bin to the $PATH file.

Just for clarification, the snippet of instructions I gave is just a few steps in the installation process. Nothing is actually supposed to be installed with those steps.

Changing a file path name

I want to change a part of my file path name in windows 10. Current path is C:\Users\Guest House\documents. I want to change the portion of the path that says guest house. How do I do this?
